A visit to the Dentist EXTREMELY WORDY POST! hi ): the sad face above is for the word 'dentist'. i've never been afraid of visiting the dentist personally but that's maybe because i've never had any bad experiences with them. i had to go dental checkups during for 2 years for my braces and i have fallen asleep countless of times during the sessions. the reason for the sudden visit to the dentist this time was because of my 'troubled' tooth. one of my back molars didn't grow out fully which caused it to decay when i was much younger. i was not aware of this until the time i had my braces, about 2 years ago. but after 17 years, it's obviously too late and there is already a HUGE hole in that molar. i had my filling done so i never knew how big it really was. so.. around mid december, the filling decided to come off, leaving my insides of the molar exposed. as much as i wanted to go back to the dentist, i was too too lazy to go make an appointment and go down. i procrastinated, complained and did nothing about it. it was only during the late december i experienced the worst pain in my mouth ever. i was having katong laksa and a piece of i-have-no-idea-what went into that tooth while i was chewing and THE PAIN WAS HORRIBLE. it was sharp and i felt as if a sharp jolt was in that tooth. it wouldnt go away until i got rid of the piece of food. even when the food was out, the pain lingered for so long that i had to pop some painkillers to sleep that night. That should be a red warning to anyone that its time to go do something about it right? Well, certainly it wasn't for me. i complained to my mum about it but still did nothing. several days later, i was having my meal at home and a piece of hot dog went into that tooth. OUUUCHHHHHH i was on the phone with Mercus and i raged at him when he asked me TWICE on when i was going to the dentist. the pain was so much worse and even after the hot dog came out, my tooth was still stinging in pain. even drinking water hurt me. so my mum realised that my tooth was affecting my life and brought me to the dentist the very next day. i know, shes very efficient. it is always impossible to get a dental appt the next day, she did. AT THE DENTIST the dentist checked my tooth and i had an xray done. my 'troubled' tooth has apparently became 'unsound'; the nerve has been affected which was why it hurt so badly even when i drank water. there were 3 options to choose to make my tooth better and my dentist recommended me to just clear the decayed part and if the pulp of the tooth was still alright, then fill it up and there is a chance that my tooth will recover. it sounded simple so i went ahead with it. Anesthesia We have all heard stories of injections in the gum, havent we? and unless we have experienced it for ourselves, we always have that fear of uncertainty for the injections. I was one of the people with no memory of having an injection done in my mouth. She placed some sweet tasting cotton on the side of my mouth on the areas in which she was going to inject. it numbed that little area and when i had my injection, it was literally painless. if i didn't hear her say anything about the injection or see the needle, i wouldn't even have known i was taking the shot. (i had 2, the outer and inner side of the gum around the tooth. we waited for a while for the anesthesia to kick in but when she sprayed the water on that tooth, IT HURT ME. so i had to go for another round of anesthesia with the LONG needle. WHATTT? my gum is so small! because i already had anesthesia in my gum, the first injection on the outer part of my gum was painless as well. it was when she injected the inner part that hurt. i wouldn't say it was PAINFUL but it definitely felt... different. when she inserted the needle, i felt nothing at all. it was when she kept going in when my entire head jolted upwards. there was this shock which i couldnt control. like electricity in my gum. as she pulled the needle out, it felt as though the needle was the conductor of the electricity and i was feeling electrocuted in my gum. it was bearable. my dentist said that she 'probably got the nerve'. again, waited for the anesthesia to kick in and being the talkative me, i had a conversation with the dentist which i instantly regretted. i asked, 'so what happens if i still hurt when you spray water on it?' 'as your tooth's nerve has been affected, there is a possibility that the anesthesia wont work. But as i work on your tooth, i will try my best to introduce the anesthesia so it will get better after a while.' WHAT THE FUCK?! i stopped talking to her. it worked anyway. But even with so much anesthesia, i could feel the sensitivity of my tooth when she was working on it. i cannot imagine at all if the anesthesia didn't work. i'd be crying so badly i think. i was prescribed painkillers which i thankfully did not really need. so guys, PLEASE dont be lazy and just go for your checkups every 6 months. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT. **half my face was numbed till my ears and tbh, i couldnt stop touching my face. it felt like... meat. i really think this is exactly how i'd feel like when i die or smth. i decided to throw in 2 pictures of myself cause its so wordy!!
I WAS BATMAN TODAY!!!!
