Carbonara! Basically, i don't like cream based pasta. I'll just stick to aglio or tomato based. If i ever dine out, cream based pasta is a definite no-no for me. However, a few months back, x cooked a carbonara that made me loved it immediately! at first when i told me he was cooking carbonara, i was complaining why he had to cook that and all. in fact, i was close to dreading dinner. while cooking it, i was in the kitchen, glum faced until i smell the aroma and began to lighten up. when it was done, the first mouth was immediate love. it went up the list of 'fav pasta' behind his aglio! since then i've been asking him to cook it on and off. until 2 or 3 days ago, we were at some supermarket. he asked what i wanted for dinner the next day. i was deciding between laksa and lagsna when i thought of his carbonara! sooo, we bought the ingredients needed. it's awesome! ultra nice and relatively simple to cook! (less than 10 steps!) so here goes.. Ingredients: Penne Milk Cream Egg (yolk only) Stripped Bacon Parmesan cheese Bacon bits (optional) and other ingredients you want in... and since i was the person deciding asparagus (veg is a MUST in my meals) crabsticks (my love - japanese 'imitation crabsticks' BEST EVER!) okay steps! use a bowl and pour your cream, milk and crack egg and put the yolk in. whisk it and well, see how thick you want your sauce to be! cut your bacon into like 1 inch flat cubes? (ah ya, whatver k, varies to your preference!) SO STEP 1 - boil your penne! STEP 2 - heat your pan and add your oil in until oil is heated and throw your bacon in. make sure the bacon is cooked and that your kitchen is filled with the bursting aroma of bacon! (use a thong to flip every pice of bacon cause it's FREAKING HOT (personal advice to newbies! lol. oh Fire's supposed to be bigbigbig!) STEP 3 - when bacon is done, add in your whatever ingredient! it's asparagus in this case. STEP 4 - once it's cook, add your cooked and drained penne in STEP 4.5 - (OPTIONAL, since people like me can't do it.) SAUTE IT. makes it even STEP 5 - Add in CRABSTICKS! STEP 5.5 - (OPTIONAL) sautesaute and so it becomes even without destroying your crabstick and pasta. STEP 6 - Add in the white mixture of cream, eggyolk and milk and stir it (lower the fire at this point. if not the egg in the mixture would turn.. like scrambled eggs? k whatever) STEP 7 - sprinkle in generous amount of parmesan cheese then (optional) bacon bits. STEP 8 - serve it into plates and.. ENJOY! nice nice! no need to buy crappy instant carbonara sauce anymore! 0 comments |
